What it measures

Crude fat content of meat and meat products by solvent extraction — the filter-bag workflow replaces classical crucible handling.

Method principle.

Filter-bag solvent extraction: samples are sealed in filter bags, solvent is added, then soaking, extraction and solvent recovery run as a batch process.

Laboratory workflow.

Step 1

Bagging

The sample (0.1–5 g) is sealed in a 25 µm filter bag — 10 µm and 15 µm bags are optional.

Step 2

Solvent adding

Solvent is added automatically (G350, F22) or manually (G100, F20), then the bag is sealed for extraction.

Step 3

Extraction

Soaking and extraction run as an unattended batch — up to 15 samples on the G350, up to 10 on the G100.

Step 4

Recovery

Solvent is recovered at a rate of at least 90%; results are calculated per batch.
